‘Raid’ Review: Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’cruz’s social drama is pertinent
Raid (Social drama)
Critics Rating: 4 / 5
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz, Saurabh Shukla
Direction: Raj Kumar Gupta
Duration: 1 hour, 52 minutes
Language: Hindi (U/A)
Story: Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn), a super-honest Income Tax officer, conducts a raid on the corrupt and connected Rameshwar Singh (Saurabh Shukla). But it seems as if Patnaik has signed his own death warrant. Will the IT official cave into pressure or will he romp home victorious?
Review: The film depends on material sourced from a few genuine stories of IT assaults led in Uttar Pradesh in the mid ’80s. Incidentally, Rameshwar’s habitation ‘White House’, on the edges of Lucknow, is home to 420 crore of black cash and Patnaik — a man with a steely save and squeaky clean notoriety — who has gotten a tip-off, is resolved to locate the missing riches. On the off chance that you are hopeful, you can without much of a stretch succumb to Patnaik. He is the sort of legend who is severely expected to release a fight on defilement that our nation is synonymous with. Furthermore, you stay put resources into him since it is our Utopian conviction that with more Patnaiks, the framework will be washed clean. Obviously, Rameshwar has associations in high places, including the Prime Minister, no less. What’s more, he tries his level best to affront and threaten Patnaik through solid arm strategies.
The sentimental track amongst Ajay and Ileana is excessively arranged with the stock montages of them doing the standard shaving froth normal and some more blah stuff. Yet, they fortunes out with the resonant tracks — Sanu Ek Pal Chain and Nit Khair Manga — made by Tanishk Bagchi and sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, both of which have an unpleasant quality.
Decision: Watch Raid in light of the fact that notwithstanding the debasement around us, despite everything we trust we can win the war against black cash hoarders. Additionally, watch it for Ajay Devgn’s power. He is earnest, tireless and doesn’t flicker even once. One star in the rating is saved just for him.
Bollywood film analyst took to Twitter and wrote, “#Aamir and #NoOneKilledJessica director Raj Kumar Gupta delivers a solid film… #Raid is his best work to date… Also, the dialogue-baazi is sure to be greeted with whistles and claps… Word of mouth will help the biz grow.” He further wrote, “#Raid works for two major reasons: Watertight screenwriting + sharp performances [Ajay Devgn and Saurabh Shukla are brilliant]… The face-off between the two is the USP… Ileana is decent… Amongst the supporting cast, actor portraying Saurabh Shukla’s mother is tremendous…”
Giving it a big thumbs up, Adarsh gave this film 4 stars! He wrote this on Twitter, “#OneWordReview… #Raid: SUPERB. Rating: This nail-biting thriller is smart, engaging, gripping and entertaining… Go for it!”
